Taxi Driver Licence - failure to attend mandatory child sexual exploitation awareness training courses The Assistant Director for Strategic Planning and Regulatory
Services to submit a report about a taxi driver failing to attend mandatory child
sexual exploitation awareness training courses. Minutes: Exclusion of the Press and Public It
was recommended that the Press and Public be excluded from the meeting during
consideration of the item, as it involved the likely disclosure of exempt
information relating to an individual as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of
Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (amended). A vote was taken, proposed by Councillor J.
Wyatt and seconded by Councillor P. Cumbers. It was a unanimous decision. It
was RESOLVED that the press and public be excluded from the meeting during
consideration of the item, as they involved the likely disclosure of exempt
information relating to an individual (including the Authority holding the
information) as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local
Government Act 1972 (amended). The Assistant Director for Strategic Planning and Regulatory Services submitted a report of which copies of which had previously been circulated to members and the Licensee. The Licensing and Compliance Officer summarised this report verbally and requested the Licensing Sub-Committee to consider the Licensee’s suitability to maintain a Hackney Vehicle and Private Hire Drivers Licence after failing to attend mandatory Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Training. The Appellant was invited to the meeting however did not attend. It was resolved that the Licensee was deemed not a ‘fit and proper person’ and their Combined Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Licence be revoked with immediate effect in the interests of public safety. The Director for Legal and Democratic Services advised that the Licensee had a right to appeal and a written decision would be issued within 5 working days of the hearing. |
